Ok, I mentioned that I had pitched an idea to friend the other day that benefit The Christian Orphanage and Agriculture Program (COAP) in Liberia. As some of you know I have acquired a deep and nagging concern for Liberia that doesn’t seem to be going away.
Here’s some background on this project in case you missed it in other posts. A few months ago I agreed to work with God’s Kids to help support an orphanage they run in Liberia - COAP. I agreed to raise half of the annual operating budget of COAP within one year.
My good friend (and previous band mate for many years – let’s not go there) Paul Donovan is an independent loan broker. Full disclosure: we’ve used Paul several times and have found him to be informed, helpful, honest and on top of things. I have recommended Paul to many others who have had great experiences as well.
So my idea was to see if Paul would be willing to donate a portion of his commission to COAP if someone I recommended completed a loan through him. Paul has generously agreed to donate *up to $500 dollars of each loan to God’s Kid’s Liberia causes. That’s about it. Just do your loan through Paul, which is a good idea anyway, and you can support an orphanage in Liberia with 52 children and 10+ staff members.
$500 goes a long way in Liberia. This amount almost covers the cost of two full time workers in the orphanage for an entire year! Email Paul at paul_donovan [at] sbcglobal [dot] net to find out more
*note: the $500 donation applies to loans over $300,000. Smaller loans would generate slightly lower donations.

This idea rocks! I’ll be going there in January. If anyone would like to send a letter to an orphan or to a staff person at COAP, I would be happy to take a whole suitcase of letters.

That is a great idea Mark! I see if we can get some folks in our church to write letters.
We’ll start praying for your trip.
