The Children of COAP are pictured above.
Here’s something new and exciting. We have decided to partner with God’s Kids to help with an orphanage in Liberia. This project has been in the works for some time. We very recently received a packet of information from Mark Leonard, the Director of Ministry Connections at God’s Kids. The Christian Orphanage and Agriculture Program (COAP) is home to 52 children and 14 staff.
After several months of prayer and searching for the right opportunity we settled on God’s Kids for several reasons. First, they are working in some of the poorest regions in Africa. Liberia has 85% unemployment and it is estimated that 1 in 2 children there are orphans. 100% of the administrative costs of running the program are paid by a corporate sponsor so all of the money raised by us to support this orphanage goes directly back to COAP.
We are hoping to cover 50% of the monthly costs of this orphanage by next year or approximately $500 per month. It’s a big chunk of money each month so please let me know if you have any fund raising ideas. We’re open to any and all suggestions.
I spoke with Mark today about how we might raise some money for COAP at the upcoming alternative Christmas market.
