Worth doing – Support the Global Child Survival Act

August 28th, 2007 · No Comments

The hill

Every year, more than 10 million children under age five die, mostly from preventable and treatable diseases.

An important bill is in congress right now that could save countless lives.  In 2007 it is estimated that 1.8 million children will die from dehydration alone due to diarrhea.  Very simple steps can be taken to save these lives.  A bottle of water (did I just write that?), sugar and salt in many cases is all that is needed to re-hydrate these children.

You can read an excellent summary of the bill here by the U.S. Coalition for Child Survival.

Please visit One.org to support the Global Child Survival Act.  They provide form letters that make sending your letter quick and easy.  If you’re feeling a little more ambitions, write a hand written letter to your representative or senator.  Folks on the hill make a big stink about hand written letters.
