I am just starting to get some traction on a year-old idea to create a podcast discussing advocacy, issues of justice and suburban living. The format will be a hodge-podge including professionally narrated content, interviews, sermons and lectures.

So where does the suburban thing fit in? Well, it can be difficult to see extreme poverty in suburbia. It’s also difficult to know how to respond to needs when they are so far away. (This isn’t to say that there aren’t needs nearby, but the focus of this blog is extreme poverty, and not many suffer from such acute physical needs in the U.S.).

So, today I had a planning meeting with a professor of economics from Calvin College to talk about a series of lectures he is recording for the podcast. I heard a lecture from him in D.C. at the Bread for the World international conference in June. Since then I’ve been wondering how to get this content recorded so many more could hear these lectures.

Great idea! Maybe throw in the odd video podcast and this could be a great connect for your audience.
