Had an extended breakfast with a good friend who manages a huge pastor’s website. We talked about many things including possibly running an article asking clergy to consider advocacy and justice initiatives. We’re planning to offer specific steps that churches can take to be a voice for the poor.

I normally try not to provide a whole lot of detail for these logs, but today’s hour included a lot of little tasks that, well, added up. I thought I’d list a sampling to give a flavor of the types of calls and emails I am making these days.

Contacted Representative Bilbray’s office to see if I can get a meeting with the Senator while he is here this month for session break.
Time spent = 5 minutes

Contacted a gentleman who wrote an excellent book that I highly recommend titled, “Beyond Guilt”, which I am hoping to record and offer as a free give away on this site and Christianaudio.com.
Time spent = 5 minutes

Spoke with a buddy at World Relief. I have been contacting the folks I know who are professionally helping the poor to see what else I should be doing. In particular, I was asking for suggestions for an “hour a week” idea that has been spinning around my mind for some time now. I am hoping to provide practical, concrete suggestions for those of you who have said you would like to help but have limited time. More to come on this.
Time spent = 15 minutes

My messages are starting to pay off!! I spoke with a pastor today here in San Marcos. He is retiring this month, but still seemed genuinely interested in our effort here. He asked me to call back and speak with the new pastor once he is settled in. They have a very active homeless ministry which sounded very interesting. I will definitely follow-up with the new pastor.
Time spent = 15 minutes

Emailed a church who is just getting involved asking about several upcoming initiatives. I’m hoping they will be willing to do an offering of letters, a stand up event, co-sponsor this year’s alternative market and host a JustFaith group in January. It’s a pretty ambitious plan but who knows???

Today I spent about an hour in the evening reading a couple of books I’m still getting through.

Off today, but couldn’t help but take pictures of the boys in their One shirts!!
